“You can see the weakness of a man right through his iris.”
RZA – 4th Chamber, GZA Liquid Swords
Being a chess player, likely RZA has studied the science of kinesics. Nonverbal communication translated through bodily movements. Understanding this science, allows you to pick up on one’s behavior and characteristics. Chess players practice a handshake, but the part of the body to provide the most information…the eyes and they do not lie.
Not making eye contact implies submissiveness, but when eye contact is maintained, it signifies control or power over a situation and establishes dominance. Mastering the art of eye contact is a skill for effective communication, and most underestimate its ability to make an impact in both your business and personal life.
In business, eye contact asserts authority and projects confidence, and self-esteem while engaging others. Looking directly at who you are speaking to, the more power and authority you will convey.
In a personal relationship, maintaining eye contact shows the person that they are important, and you care about what they have to say.
Give it a shot! Practice the skill of eye contact. You will be glad you did. Its one of the greatest investments you will make in both your business and personal life without costing a dime.👐
